With summer comes vacations and with vacations come packing, traveling, and lots of sun exposure. I absolutely love reading these types of posts because I love getting to know what other people pack when they travel! If you’d like to know what I usually pack on vacations to keep my makeup and skin 100%, please keep reading!
Out of all the steps in my travel makeup bag, I think this is the most important step. It is so critical to take care of your skin, especially when you are traveling. Inside a plane with recycled air for hours, commuting by car, and a blazing hot sun is a recipe for skin disaster. Whenever traveling, I always make sure to have enough hydration and sun protection.
I really like masks focused on hydration since I tend to be very dehydrated on the plane and can develop really dry patches on my face 🙁 Sheet masks are a win-win because they are light and can fit in any carry on. Some popular hydrating masks are Tony Mony I’m Real Aloe Mask and Leaders “What Happened Last Night” mask.
If you aren’t a big fan of looking like a ghost on the plane (which there’s no shame in that), try the Clinique Moisture Surge. It’s an awesome product that quenches the thirst of your skin quickly and does not need to be washed off. I used this on my 13 hour plane ride to Korea and it seriously saved my skin from dehydration and flaking. Apply like regular face gel and you are good to go!
Don’t forget to take care of your lips. I always exfoliate a couple hours before my trip and take it along with me in my luggage for extra support during trips. It is so essential to take some form of lip care when you’re traveling. A pricey but amazing lip product is the Hourglass Lip Oil. It is seriously a lifesaver when it comes to healing dry lips and helps heal them in a pinch. Another great lip product is Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip balm. This lip balm is amazing at keeping your lips moisturized all day long. Both are travel-friendly, which is a plus <3
Tip #1: Basics
I always bring the basics like mascara, eyeliner, falsies, setting powder, etc. Everyone’s basics will differ, but here’s what I’ve currently been using:
Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara (one of my all time favorite mascaras too!)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow (for travel date nights to look EXTRA glam)
Tip #2: Multipurpose
When traveling, I pack makeup products that are easy to apply and easy to carry. Products that have things like all my everyday eye shadows or have a multi-purpose are necessary. I don’t want to be packing 5 different palettes if one palette can do exact the same. There are so many products out in the market that have multipurpose uses, but here are some awesome ones:
Tip #3: Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen
Just because you are going on vacation, doesn’t mean the sun’s harsh UV rays are going to give you a break. Make sure to pack sunscreen and lots of it. In addition to regular sunscreen, I like to pack various face and makeup products with sunscreen already in the product for a 2-in-1 purpose.
IDK about you, but when I go on vacation there’s lots of plans made to go to theme parks, beaches, and lots of shopping! Since I’m always likely to leave quickly in the AM, I must have makeup tools that can get me ready in a pinch.
