Summer Makeup Switches

When summer hits, its time for some changes! In addition to bringing out your summer shorts and dresses, don’t forget to make changes in your makeup routine as well!

With the sun and humidity out, its easy for your foundation to feel heavy and slide off your face (which isn’t too cute). Switch your foundation for a BB Cream. Not only are BB creams feel lightweight, they also have SPF which helps prevent skin cancer. Win-win! My U.S. favs are Burt’s Bees BB Cream and Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream.

Highlighter is totally in right now (have you seen the new shades from the Jouer Highlighter collection?!) but can fade through the hot summer day. Try switching to a liquid or gel highlighter to make that cheekbone pop all day long! Marc Jacobs Beauty just recently came out with the Coconut Dew Drops highlighter and it is to die for!

Liquid lipsticks are amazing and can last all day, but can feel drying. If you’re not too careful, you lips can get really dehydrated and start cracking! Switch over to a lip tint or stain. This product stains your lips and helps you save time because you won’t have to reapply throughout the day. I personally love Korean lip stains, but some of my U.S. favs are Babo Botanicals Lip Tint Conditioner and Benefit’s Benetint (which also works for the lips and cheeks)!

Everyone wants that bronzy looking skin in the summer. If you love Benefit’s Hoola bronzer as much as I do, try their new Dew the Hoola liquid bronzer. This products gives the same benefits as the powder bronzer, but is super natural looking and summer-proof! If you’re looking for a drugstore dupe, try NYX Illuminating sticks.

Everyone loves neutral palettes. BUT sometimes, when you’re on the go or having a lazy day at the beach, summer calls for simple makeup. To simplify your eye makeup, switch to long-lasting or waterproof cream formulas. These will help your look last all day through sweat, water, and humidity! I like using neutral colors that will match with every look. My favorites are Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill and the very affordable L’Oreal Infallible eye shadows.

I have not tried any of these particular brands but I swear by liquid lipsticks. The best invitation in the history of makeup 🙂
