Summer has finally come and graduation season is here! This is your time to celebrate for all the sweat, tears, and hard work you put into your academics. Whether it’s your high school or college graduation ceremony, we ALL know that this is an all day event and there is no time for our makeup to PLAY us! Here are my five tips to make YOUR special day makeup last all day!
My number one tip for long lasting is to layer your makeup. If you use any liquid face products, make sure to set it with a setting powder or foundation powder so it doesn’t slide off throughout the day. If you want your highlight to last all day, try using a cream or liquid highlighter first and set with a powder highlighter. I love using Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops (one drop does it all!) and lately I have been setting it with ABH x Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit. It’s a match made in heaven.
Prime, Prime, Prime
If you want your makeup to last, you need to prime. Priming your makeup is key to prepping your foundation, concealer, and powders to stay all day. Primers definitely vary depending on your skin-type and if your ceremony is going to be indoors or outside. I personally like using primers that are hydrating and have a “blurring” effect to the skin. Here are some of my favorites:
1. Too Faced Hangover Primer (best HYDRATING primer ever!)
2. Benefit the Professional
3. ULTA Flawless Prime (Drugstore Alternative for UD Optical Illusion Primer)
4. Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer (use this if you want flawless AF skin)
5. Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser Primer (Drugstore Alternative for the Porefessional)
Frame your Face with Eyebrows
I always recommend doing eyebrows, especially on special events like graduation. If you have full brows naturally, great; one less step for you! If you have more sparse brows, try brushing out your brows and apply some brow tint! This will help make your look appear more put together.
Long Lasting Tip… Powder Foundation
A secret tip I have to make sure my foundation stays all day is applying powder foundation all over my liquid foundation and concealer. The trick is to apply strategically. Apply a lighter powder foundation to the center of your face like under the eyes, the nose, and cupid’s bow. Then apply your skin-tone to the rest of your face or (even better trick!) apply a foundation powder that is a shade darker around the perimeters of your face for a natural contoured look. And now you’re SET (haha) to conquer the day!
Do YOU & Don’t Try Something New
Last but not least, do a makeup look that YOU are confident in! It’s easy because you know your routine and what products work for you. If you don’t wear makeup that much, that’s okay! Make sure to dedicate a day before the special day to test out new products to see if they work out for you. The last thing you want is to rock new makeup that doesn’t rock with you. My go-to look is a brown smokey eye with a champagne in the center.
That’s it! I hope these tips help you on your special day. To all graduates, congratulations to your new achievement and good luck on your career aspirations and pursuits! YOU CAN DO IT!
